4A Quarter Finals
#1 Judge Memorial vs #9 Timpanogos: Judge advances on to the semi finals with a dominant win over Timpanogos, 21-4, the Bulldogs scoring 7 goals in both the first and second quarter. Judge will Play Green Canyon high school this following Wednesday for a chance to go to their first ever sanctioned 4A State finals.
#4 Payson vs #5 Green Canyon : The Green Canyon Wolves are headed to the Semi finals once again with their win over Payson, 7-3. The Wolves upset the #4 seed Payson Lions, stopping the Lions (game) win streak Green Canyon now looks to take down the number 1 seed Judge Memorial.
#2 Sky View vs #10 Bear River : The number two seed Sky View Bobcats with a strong win against the bears this last Saturday, 16-10. The Bear River bears kept the score close until the 4th quarter, heading into the second half tied. The Bobcats pulled away in the 4th to secure their victory where they will face the Ridgeline Riverhawks for the third time this season.
#3 Juan Diego vs #6 Ridgeline : Ridgeline Riverhawks battled their way to a big win this week as they beat Juan Diego 9-8. The Riverhawks held a 5-3 lead at the half. Juan Diego chipped away at that lead in the 3rd quarter, and only trailed by 1 going into the 4th. Ridgeline scored in the last few minutes to seal their win, and advance them to the state semis for the second straight year and now have a chance to upset Sky View, a team they lost to twice in the regular season.
5A Quarter Finals
#1 Brighton vs. #9 Box Elder: The 5A favorites Brighton took down the red-hot Bees 17-10 in a 5A quarterfinal matchup on Saturday. The Bengals high powered offense led by Seniors Donovan Wismer and Luke Reece, Juniors Austin Taylor and Andrew Salinas, and Sophomore Gabe Carrera, showed Brightons prowess. The Bengals head to Westminster University on Wednesday to take on No. 5 Northridge with a trip to the 5A championship on the line.
#4 Roy vs. #5 Northridge: The Knights upset No. 4 seed Roy on Saturday in a thrilling 11-9 matchup with Northridge on top. Northridge is led by Seniors Max Skousen and Rusty Baldwin leading the attack. Northridge heads back to the semifinals where last year they were defeated by Olympus. The Knights play No. 1 and favorite Brighton at Dumke Field.
#2 Olympus vs. #10 Bountiful: The Titans are headed to the semifinals after beating Bountiful 14-5 on Saturday. Olympus, led by Senior Charlie Droitsch on offense and Seniors Grey Petersen and Sam Smith on defense, Olympus looks to head back to Zions Bank Stadium for the 5A state championship. The Titans take on Park City, who has had Olympus’s number the past few years, on Wednesday at Westminster University.
#3 Park City vs. #6 East: Park City defeated East 13-8 on Saturday and the Miners are headed to the semifinals. The Miners look to continue their playoff run and take on region rival No. 2 Olympus. Park City has beaten Olympus twice in the state championship in the last two years and PC is hungry for more. The Miners are led by Senior Bracken Birch and Junior Ian Marsland on offense with Seniors Garrett Herbert and AJ Silianoff on defense.
6A Quarter Finals
#1 Corner Canyon dominated #8 Bingham in a 17-3 win on Saturday. The Chargers offense was led by Kisen Muramoto and OJ Ika who both had 7 goals and 3 assists a piece. The Chargers will look to keep this electric offensive duo going on Wednesday as they face Farmington in the semifinals.
#2 Fremont will advance to the semifinals after beating #10 Riverton 8-7. The Silverwolves came back to steal the win in the second half, after trailing by a goal at halftime. Fremont will now face Davis in the next round of playoffs.
#4 Farmington was able to hold off #5 Lone Peak and secure the 7-6 win, in the quarterfinals. Tyson Hoskins had 11 saves, contributing to the strong defensive performance by the Phoenix. Tyler Jacob’s won 10 face offs in the win also. Farmington will now play Corner Canyon on Wednesday.
#3 Davis had a statement win over #6 Westlake with a score of 14-6. The Darts came out hot, scoring 4 straight goals in the first quarter. Luke Donigan led the offense in scoring. Davis will now play Fremont on Wednesday in the semifinals.
