2023 Championships
Girls 6A State Champions
Lone Peak is our 2023 6A State Champs. This team took me by surprise. My first impression was underwhelming. I heard about their talent, and I had to see it for myself. I went to their home game against Olympus, I saw their potential, I saw their drive and I saw their bond. I was thrilled to have the chance to see them play against Corner Canyon and see their drive come through. I was skeptical when it came to Championships against Mountain Ridge. These two teams have very different styles of playing. Mountain Ridge hands down has the best defense in the state, to see how Lone Peak handled that pressure was astounding. Lone Peak is Region 4 Champs along with 6A Champions! Lone Peak is taught by Weslie Lundell. Coach Lundell is a top-notch coach, from her sweet personality, strong athleticism, and passion for her girls. She is one of the top coaches in the state. Congratulations to all Lone Peak!

Corner Canyon took this year’s 6A Championship title. Corner Canyon had an impressive season with a 16-2 overall record and Region 4 Champs! Corner Canyon faced off with Fremont in their 6A Championship game and beat them 19-5. Corner Canyons star player was Blake Franchwiak, with 4 goals and 6 assists! Congratulations to both teams for making it to 6A State Championships.

Girls 5A State Champs
Park City is back on top as this years State Champions. We all have no doubt that Park City is one of the top schools in Utah. They are the definition of next level in Utah. I was mesmerized by their teamwork and overall levelheadedness throughout the championship game. I was very pleased to see them soar above the odds. Ava Kimche skills are above everyone else in her position. I have seen many goalies throughout my years of lacrosse, but I have never seen such a talented athlete as her. I already had a large amount of respect for Head Coach Mikki Clayton but when I looked at the sideline in the last few moments and saw her yelling out and motioning, “Breathe” and “Keep Calm” the respect I have for her when off the charts. Congratulations to all of Park City!

Congratulations on a well-played game to both teams!
