Week One Coaches Poll
Thank you to everyone who participated in this week’s coaches poll! We look forward to seeing how the rankings develop as the games begin. We are also thankful for a new coaches poll sponsor Hill and Hill Photography! We know you’ve seen them on the sidelines capturing all the action.
Park City
This proud and consistent program has their eyes on the state championship already. Their schedule is tough, but they are set to get better every game in order to hit top performance by May. Their first game is a rematch of the 2024 5A championship against Olympus on March 4th.
Olympus
The Titans are looking for a repeat of their victory last year in the championship. They lost some great players to graduation, but in no sense is this a rebuilding year for the year. It is business as usual at one of Utah's top girls’ lacrosse programs — and the business is winning. Their first game is on March 4th against Park City.
Mountain Ridge (tie)
This is one of the top programs in the state, year after year. It’s a younger team this year, but they have some great athletes and strong leaders ready to mold them. Expect them in the running at the end of the year for another championship attempt. They take to the field on March 3rd against Pleasant Grove.
Brighton (tie)
The Bengals have consistently been in the final rounds of competition, and rea ready to take it higher. They have set their sights on a state championship and are very focused on what they can do to achieve that goal. They have a bit more time to practice this year as their first game isn’t until March 11th against Mountain Ridge.
Farmington
This team plays every game like it’s a Region 1 championship. They are one of the most constant programs in Utah and this year will play one of the more competitive schedules in the state. It should be well worth it. The first game is on March 5th against Bingham.
Riverton
Every year, this team gets better, works harder, and levels up their competition. They are playing in one of the toughest divisions in the state but this could be the year they make a run deep into the playoffs. They take to the field against Layton on March 4th.
Bear River
The 4A state champions are looking to add another trophy to the shelf. This program just does not lose. They never rebuild, they just restock with great athletes and a dedicated coaching staff. Their first game is against Bonneville on May 10th.
Lone Peak
The Knights are on a quest this year after a 9-1 region season last year. They play Skyview on March 6th.
Bingham
A new season and a new coaching staff for the Miners! A heavy senior class should lead to good leadership as the Miners fight their way through a tough regional schedule. The take on Skyline on March 3rd.
Freemont
The 6A state champs are hoping for a repeat of last season. It’s going to be a tougher year though with the opening of a new neighboring school, Westfield. It will be interesting to see how the teams shape up. They play West Jordan on March 3rd.
Brighton
5A state champions are looking for a repeat. They are not shying away from any competition this year and have one of the toughest schedules in the state. First game against Weber is on March 6th.
Corner Canyon
This powerhouse team is vying for their 5th 6A state championship. They may have a new coach, but they have the same winning attitude. They play Box Elder on March 5th.
Olympus
One of the top programs in the state, year after year. The first five games of the season are against top-rated programs, but there is no backing down for the Titans. They face off against Juan Diego on March 4th.
Park City
The Miners are looking to hit the mother lode and bring the gold back to PC. They will take on Colorado’s finest in between games with Judge, Davis and Brighton, Corner Canyon. Their first game is on March 10th against Lone Peak.
Judge Memorial
The 4A state champions are young and dangerous. They are competing at the highest levels and have a top-level schedule to test their skills as a team. In fact, they playing 7 of the 9 other teams on this poll, and looking for revenge against the two Utah teams they lost to last year: Westlake, and Olympus. They take to the field on March 8th against Westlake.
Davis
They are usually in the running for the Region One championship. Last year they got a taste of state championship competition with a heartbreaking but heroic comeback loss. Can they take the extra step in 2025? They play Riverton on March 4th.
Alta
This may be the team to watch this year. The coaching staff is taking extra steps to challenge their players, taking on top Utah teams and challenging teams from California as well. We will see if it pays off. They play Westlake on March 6th.
Farmington
This is a tough team, who last year fought for every point and every win. They live up to the Phoenix name because you never can count them out. They start the season against Sky View on March 4th.
Lone Peak
Three out first 5 games for the Knights are against some of the top-rated teams in the state. It’s a tough early schedule but it should be very beneficial in regional play. They take on Payson on March 4th.
West Field
A surprise landing spot in the top 10 preseason poll! A new school, new facilities, new and exciting attitude out of Taylor, Utah. They are competing with Region 11 in its inaugural season, and have picked up talent from neighboring schools. They should be fun to watch. They start their season against Bonneville on March 5th.
