Brrr… A BLIZZARD is Brewing! The Salt Lake Storm Launches Utah’s First Ever Girls Box Lacrosse Program!

The Storm is coming in strong! Salt Lake Storm Box Lacrosse, that is! Big things are happening in Utah girls' lacrosse! The Salt Lake Storm is bringing something huge to the state: The Blizzard, Utah’s very first Girls Box Lacrosse program. This exciting new initiative is set to revolutionize the game, offering a fast-paced, indoor version of lacrosse that’s all about quick reflexes, strategic play, and teamwork. Played in a smaller, enclosed rink, box lacrosse is a thrilling, high-energy version of the sport. The best part? The girls’ game follows the same rules as the boys, making it an intense and competitive experience for all players.

Who Can Join?
The Blizzard program is designed for athletes in the 2026/2027 and 2028/2029 graduating classes. Whether you're new to box lacrosse or already have experience, this program is perfect for players who want to grow their skills and compete at the highest level.

Clinics and Tryouts
To kick things off, the Blizzard will host clinics in the Winter of 2024/2025, offering athletes a chance to learn new techniques, improve their skills, and get familiar with the fast-paced style of box lacrosse. Then, in Summer 2025, tryouts will take place to select the team and get players ready for some serious competition.

Meet the Coaches
The Blizzard program will be led by a talented group of coaches with years of experience in lacrosse and player development:

• Austin Braerman brings over 25 years of lacrosse experience, including 8 years of playing box lacrosse. As the all-time leader in assists for the BLL, Austin knows what it takes to succeed in the box.

In addition, guest coaches from the Salt Lake Storm and other top women’s box lacrosse teams across the country will be joining the Blizzard, offering players the very best coaching and guidance.

What’s Coming Up?
Exciting things are happening behind the scenes for the Blizzard:

• The program is working to affiliate with USBOXLA or US Lacrosse, opening doors for high-level competition and exposure.

• There are plans to provide gear grants for players, ensuring that everyone has the equipment they need to play their best.

• A full schedule for practices, clinics, and tournaments will be available soon!
