Park City Takes Down the #1 Brighton Bengals in Overtime
Rewatch on KSL Rewind
The Park City Miners were on the road again this week, but were able to squeeze out a tight victory against the number one Brighton Bengals. The game started fast for the Bengals, as Sophomore Gabe Carrera got on the board in the first few minutes, followed by a deep goal by senior midfielder James Anderson shortly after. But penalties cost the Bengals, as the Miners capitalized on two man-up advantages to tie up the game in the second quarter. James Anderson found the back of the net again, followed by a goal from sophomore midfielder Wade Birch on the other side of the field. The teams headed into half with the score tied 3-3.
The Bengals came out hot again in the second half with quick goals from Junior Midfielder Austin Taylor and Senior Attack Luke Reese. However, with an individual effort from Wade Birch, the Miners were able to score late into the fourth and force the game to overtime.
The Miners defense showed up in overtime, making multiple clutch stops against the Bengals offense. With the clock winding down, Senior Goalie AJ Silianoff went coast-to-coast and scored the game winning goal for the Miners. To add to the clutch goal, Silianoff also shined with 11 saves on the night.
