WE ARE MORE THAN LACROSSE WE ARE FAMILY: Jesse Cervantes and Kali Parkinson
Support our family in tragedy
We Need the Power of Community in Times of Tragedy!!!
Lacrosse family, in moments of unimaginable loss, the strength of our lacrosse community must shine. We need to rally, support and pray for beloved coach Jesse Cervantes (Copper Hills Boys Youth) , who tragically passed away while coaching his son's youth lacrosse game. Along with coming together to support Kali Parkinson, a promising athlete recovering from a life-threatening accident, our collective compassion makes a difference. In both cases, the families left behind are facing enormous challenges, but with our lacrosse families support, we can help lighten their burden and remind them they are not alone. We are more than a bunch of people that love lacrosse. We are family!
Tragic Loss of Copper Hills Youth Coach Jesse Cervantes
Our hearts are overwhelmed with sadness with the sudden passing of Jesse Cervantes, a beloved father, husband, brother, and coach. Jesse tragically suffered a heart attack while coaching his 8-year-old son, Alfie’s, lacrosse game. Despite all heroic efforts, Jesse could not be saved, leaving behind his wife, Brittany, son Alfie and team to navigate this unimaginable loss.
37 year old Jesse was the kind of person who touched every life he encountered, radiating warmth and kindness. He was an extraordinary father and husband, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him. Brittany, Alfie and Copper Hills youth now need us more than ever. We will rally for this outstand coach as we support Brittany and Alfie in any way shape or form.
Copper Hills youth will be holding a vigil for coach Jesse this Wednesday (October 2, 2024) at 5:30 pm at Sunset Ridge Middle School. Wear jerseys and bring your sticks.
Please consider donating to help Brittany and Alfie through this heartbreaking time. Your contributions, no matter the size, will provide critical support as they try to rebuild their lives. Every dollar will help ensure they have what they need, including counseling services and assistance for Alfie as he faces life without his father. GoFundMe
Fremont Athlete Kali Parkinson After Tragic Car Accident
Last week, tragedy struck near St. George when a devastating rollover accident occurred, claiming one life and leaving two others, including 2024 Fremont High School varsity starter and Utah Tech freshman, Kali Parkinson, fighting for her life. The accident, which happened after the car veered off a 300-foot cliff in Snow Canyon, left Kali with extensive, life-threatening injuries. She was immediately life-flighted to a hospital in St. George, where she has since undergone three major emergency surgeries and remains in critical condition in the ICU.
Kali, known for her kind heart and infectious smile, has always been a beacon of light in her community. Whether on the lacrosse field, in the classroom, or with friends, she embodies compassion, friendship, and strength. Kali’s impact goes far beyond athletics—her presence has touched countless lives, and her teammates and friends describe her as someone who always ensures others are safe and welcomed with open arms.
Now, as Kali faces a long and uncertain road to recovery, our community has the opportunity to support her and her family in their time of need. Kali is expected to remain in the hospital for 6-8 weeks before she can begin the arduous process of rehabilitation. The emotional and financial strain of traveling between Northern Utah and Southern Utah, along with mounting medical bills, is immense.
Kali’s teammates have rallied together and set up a GoFundMe campaign to help her family manage these overwhelming expenses. The love and support from the lacrosse community have already begun to pour in, but much more is needed. Every donation, no matter the size, will directly help with medical costs, travel expenses, and ensuring that Kali receives the best care possible on her path to recovery.
This is a time for our community to come together, as we always do, to support one of our own. Kali has given so much of herself to others, and now it’s our turn to show her and her family that they are not alone. Please share this story with your friends, families, and anyone who can contribute. And for those who may not be able to donate, your thoughts, prayers, and words of encouragement are just as powerful.
Let’s continue to lift up Kali, her family, and the others affected by this unimaginable tragedy. Together, we can make a difference. Together, we can help Kali heal.
